IWSG: Making Hard Decisions...Only YOU Can Help!

About a 1 1/2 years ago I learned about this little thing called a writer's conference. Say what?? And then I learned the majority of my blogging buds go to this particular one called Storymakers. Shut the front door!
I know.
Over time, I was told by them how I have to go! Not only would I get some worthy knowledge, but some worthy kinships strengthened...like in person. Whoa. Imagine that. Plus 60% of my relatives live in the SLC Utah area, so visiting them would be added bonuses. Score!
Right?
In November a few writer friends and I made plans to room together. Pillow fight!! But like flies we all dropped out for different reasons, except one...sorry Jennie! Solo pillow fight?
So what stopped me?
I sold my passion called a motorcycle in December and my hubs promised me a bigger badder one next year. Well, next year is here people! And bikers are already out and about on the island. NOooo! Yeah, and when I hear them go by, my biker angel wings break off another feather.
So, the hard decision...
Storymakers or Motorcycle?

Have you MET me??? It's obviously a motorcycle. Why? Because Storymakers isn't going anywhere. Say what? Yeah, it's like there every year. And so will my blogger buds. And so will some cool workshops. And if you have NO CLUE what it feels like to ride a motorcycle, let alone be the driver, then you have NO CLUE how obvious the decision is. Plus, I've done some hardcore brainstorming plot ideas during rides, it's crazy the clarity you get!
But you can hop on, and I'll give you a taste...

To that I now say...2016 Storymakers baby! And the BEST PART??  A writer's association on the island JUST started monthly writer workshops! Holy crap! And I'm going each time and trust me, I'm going to peruse those crowds making some local writer friends, too! Happy leather chaps dance!

AND NOW IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO VOTE!!

Tara Tyler and I were talking about the A to Z challenge and us being on C. Lee McKenzie's AMAZING Head Muffin Team to regulate the list. I said I've never done the challenge. This year I'm going to, plus be a regulator. She suggested a theme would help make the posts go smoother. I have a couple I can think of but maybe YOU know a better one that you want me to discuss.
 Here is your voting moment!!
WHAT would you like to see be MY theme for
THE A TO Z CHALLENGE??

Conference will always be there indeed, what's another year. Theme should be crazy, that works lol

Suzi said...

But what if I can't go next year? *hangs head* I'm just gonna go in the corner and cry right now.

:)

Natalie Aguirre said...

Sounds like you made a good decision for you regarding the motorcycle or the conference. And like you said, you can go to the conference in 2016.

I'm surprised they don't make the conference attendable via the internet. I've only ever been a passenger on a bike. It was fun and thrilling but I'm a bit too chicken to ever pursue it. When I graduated college my parents asked me what I wanted...back then the small Honda Rebel had just come out and I told them I wanted that for my gift. They sent me to California for 10 days with a friend instead. lol

That's too bad you won't be making Storymakers! This is the first year I'll be going and I'm looking forward to it. :)
But have fun on your motorcycle!!

Sorry you're not going this year, but I understand. Conference or new guitar? Easy choice for me.
Tammy, any theme where you can banter on about pop culture reference would be hilarious.

I know about motorcycles. My dad had one for about as long as I can remember. Rode on the back A LOT! It's SPRING! Go for the bike!

A theme? I should think humor would be right up your alley. The A to Z of Bad Puns, or comedians, or silly animal jokes... The list is loooooooong. :)

So... you will be a minion on Lee's team... She asked me, I've been thinking about it.

S.K. Anthony said...

Well, go motorcycle! And go conference 2016!

Theme. Well, I dunno, what are your options? o_O I know it will be funny no matter what... Confessions of a Motorcyclist Writer? Which would consist of only you know what. Like I said, I dunno lol.

Chrys Fey said...

I've never been to a conference...I'm really missing out, huh?

This is my second year doing the A to Z Challenge and I've signed up to be a minion to help the team. :)

As for your theme, oh dear. I don't know what it should be, but whatever you decide I know will be entertaining.

Do something biker-related!

IWSG #143 until Alex culls the list again.

Julie Flanders said...

I agree with Melissa, your theme has to be related to motorcycles!
And I totally love the Muffin team. Such a funny name.

Ohhh, yay, I can't wait to meet you, Tammy!!! I've never done the A-Z challenge before either, but I'm thinking maybe I will this time...

I like the biker theme! Either that or maybe something to do with shoes...(hello sparkly red stilettos!!!)

I've wanted to make it to Storymakers for a few years, but our travel has been very limited. (Yeah, kinda goes with the whole "home schooling" territory.) It sounds like a blast.

I haven't decided if I'm going to make a very limited appearance for the A to Z challenge this year. Baby's due in March. Might make blogging a, uh, challenge. =)

Love motorcycles, and conferences are great fun, just don't take a significant other. LOL

Congrats on the A to Z challenge!

Tammy Theriault said...

Big hugs to everyone coming by!!! Love it

Sarah Foster said...

It's too bad you can't go to the conference, but you're right, it will still be there next year. I've never been to a conference, myself.

I'm not all that good at theme ideas. I barely came up with one for myself!

Oh gosh, the A to Z... I've participated every year since its beginnings, but unfortunately I'll have to pass on it this year. #sadface Looking forward to all the intriguing themes, though. Hmmm... I like your suggestions. But for me as long as you include all the funny that is Tammy I think you'll be fine!

Elephant's Child said...

Love bikes. And the Ranger name captured a lot of what I feel about them. Fun, addictive and more than a little scary.
Whatever your theme I am sure that your A to Z posts will be fun.

Andrew Leon said...

Well, I don't think I could get excited about a writer's conference, anyway.

Get a good bike!

Annalisa Crawford said...

I'm jealous of all the cool conferences you guys get over in the US. I hope you don't have to wait too long for the bike!

Oh yeah, the bike wins!! I want a ride.

Kristin Smith said...

Storymakers! I've been thinking about going this year, but haven't signed up...I think I'm looking for excuses. Maybe 2016 will be the year for Storymakers for me also. :)

As for themes, I have no clue, I haven't even decided if I'm doing A to Z this year. I might just take a blogging break. I know whatever you come up with will be hilarious! :)

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

I love conferences but I understand our decision too. Can't help with the theme. It was hard enough to come up with one of my own.

Lynda R Young said...

Motorbikes are cool. The bigger the better. I've never driven one--I just have a lot of friends who do.

L. Diane Wolfe said...

I've been in control of a motorcycle only once. I flipped over the handlebars and sprained my ankle really bad. LOL Guess they aren't for me. But my step-brother loved his Harley and even took a month to ride it around New Zealand before he died.

You have such a great wit, Tammy. Just make your theme funny.

Mina Burrows said...

Top Biker Characters! That would be a hot topic. You could write about something you love and then give us a lesson or two as well. Just a thought! XXOO :)

Tammy Theriault said...

Ohhh a biker theme...yummmmm

Suzie Ridler said...

Ah man! I think your choice for the motorcycle is the clearest one. There is nothing like being on one. I've only been the passenger but I miss our motorcycle all the time. Nothing else like it.

Jemi Fraser said...

We still have snowbanks taller than our truck up here! Jealous :)

One of these days I'll make a conference too - just don't know when!

Loni Townsend said...

Yay for the new motorcycle. I hope you have fun on it. Learning how to ride is on my bucket list. >_<

I agree, the conference will be there next year. :)

Heather Holden said...

Congrats on the new motorcycle! It's a shame you had to drop out of Storymakers as a result, but hey, like you said, there's always next year! :)

Shell Flower said...

Yay for getting a new bike soon. Sounds like the obvious choice. I love that pic, too. Your theme should definitely be motorcycle related B is for Biker Chick, H is for Harley, something like that? I just got a postcard in the mail with the dates of the B'ham Chuckanut Conference June 26-27. You could ride your bike to it, too!

Rena said...

Oh yeah, I totally understand why you might go with the motorcycle instead of the conference.

I have a conference that I swear I am going to go to, but EVERY YEAR, it winds up being on the same weekend as something else that I simply CANNOT miss. Some day.

Stopping by again to say Happy Blitz Day!

Happy Blitz Day!! Vrrrroom!

J Lenni Dorner said...

Sorry I missed your Blitz day, due to computer trouble (can I borrow the bike to run a harddrive over real quick?). But I wanted to stop by the "after party" to say hello.
