Where Are You? You MUST Tell Me!

I love talking to people about anything. How they met their spouses, what they're writing, how long it takes them to write a book, what their job is, why their unhappy/happy, why they never returned my text... you get the driffy.
Let this be your phobia!!
BUT NOW, I want to hear about YOU.
Yes YOU!
I'm giving you 4 easy questions.
Answer ALL of them if you...dare!!
I double-dog, no, triple-dog dare you to answer all 4 questions because you're so awesome!
In fact, I'll even take that dare and answer them, too!
1. What are you reading?
(reading means reading so it doesn't have to be a book!)
2. What are you writing and tell me about your progress so far?
(this could even be a grocery list)
3. One thing you hope to finish/do before 2016?
(big or small; anything!)
4. If we were to meet in person, how would you greet me?
(just know, I high five hard)

1. I'm reading the Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards, the Rifters by MPax, Flesh Eating Zombies and Evil Ex-Girlfriends by Rachel Scheiffelbein (my 1st zombie book!), and the Whidbey News Times because my oldest son was in it!
(I'm a "mood" reader. Hence why more than 1 book listed)
2. Writing 3 books with 1 on hold. A children's with Janet Reyes (Jay Noel's wifey) that we just started, a YA with Elizabeth Seckman that we're drafting when we have time to (we're busy girls), and an adult contemporary with myself (we really see eye to eye on stuff) in draft mode, too.
3. I'd love to meet a writer I haven't met (I have a few in mind...), and do my first query before 2016.
4. If I met myself, I'd have a head convo because I feel like I'd be able to read my own thoughts well. Just a feeling...

Hey Tammy! You've kicked the year off on a good note. All of the questions you ask will be answered in my blog post that I finally got up, except how would I greet you. I'll go the easy route -- "How ya goin' mate...orright?"

I've read a list of books as long as my arm. That's my next blog post taken care off. 'The Memory Keeper's Daughter'. Wow. I reviewed that last year. Totally, totally, totally...LOVED IT!!!!

I'm rereading Harry Potter for the billionth time, but I have a bunch of new books to start. I don't make as much time to read as I should so it takes forever to get through a book.

I need to catch up in my gratitude journal and transcribe the sweet texts my hubby sends me from the road (he's a trucker).

I'd like to finish paying off my credit cards by the end of the year but that may not happen.

I'd give you an enthusiastic greeting, big smile and hug.

Natalie Aguirre said...

I'm reading an ARC of Mark of the Thief by Jennifer Nielson. It's fantastic and I'll be sharing it in March.

All I'm writing are blog posts and job cover letters.

I hope to get a permanent job this year.

And I'd be so excited to meet you in person.

M.J. Fifield said...

Mephobia. Funny.

Like JoJo, I am also rereading the Harry Potter series. I watched the movies over the holiday week, and decided I had to reread the books because of all the stuff that's left out.

I'm working on finishing up the first draft of a new WIP. The word count is huge, but I have so much more to go. Trying not to get overwhelmed by it.

I hope to finish this first draft by 2016. Maybe even get through a nice second draft.

I would impress you with my disco dance moves. Then, after I've fallen and broken my ankle because I have no disco dance moves, we can high five. Because I am not a T-Rex.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

I just finished reading Woven and am returning to one of Gwen Gardner's books. I'm writing A to Z posts right now. I hope to survive a book release. And I would greet you with a big 'Hey!'

Stacy McKitrick said...

1. I'm reading "Forgotten Sins" by Rebecca Zanetti.

2. I'm almost finished editing my soon-to-be self-published novel, Blind Temptation. And I'm about 40% through the first draft of my seventh book.

3. I WILL have Blind Temptation published (hopefully by March) and I WILL have my WIP finished and ready to submit to my editor by 2016 (hopefully a LOT sooner than December!).

4. If we were to meet in person, I'd say HI (I don't talk much). But I'm willing to give you that high-five. :)

Pat Hatt said...

Reading you say, well reading some blog posts currently and editing away? That count? lol

Writing two novels, a 4th rhyming novel, 3 or 4 kids books on the go and doing a new idea that I'm hiding for a while, already have 2 stories written in it though.

Make it out alive, too ambitious?

I'd pretend I didn't see you and greet the next person, then you could see how lame my greetings are and be grateful I ignored you lol

Hi Tammy - well - me too .. I'm a great quizzer of people - sometimes I get asked why do you want to know!

Reading - about to read a bone manual (more tomorrow); blog post for tomorrow and the A-Z posts need to be done soon; be very active and successful on the net; a long gentle take in glance and then a big hug I expect ...

Not a high five - if I'm about to have my hand whacked!! Cheers Hilary

1. I'm between books now but I think I'll be reading Soulless by Crystal Collier next.

2. I am editing the sequel to Hurricane Crimes. I'm actually on my last round before I look for beta readers.

3. I hope to have this sequel done so I can send it to my published in April.

4. I think I'd greet you nervously with a smile and wonder if you want to hug me. I'm not a hugger. lol

Bish Denham said...

Great questions!

1. I'm reading Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs.

2. I'm working on my revising and editing my grandmother's cookbook. It's slow going.

3. I hope, no, I intend to get the cookbook finished, and maybe even get another book finished as well, all before 2016. Lord help me.

4. If we met in person I hope I could give you a hug!

Chris Fries said...

1. I'm reading this blog post and the answers that others have left so far. That, and I'm finally catching up on the Games of Thrones series -- currently in book #2.

2. I'm writing this response to your blog post, and I'm almost done with question #2. That and just starting a new period detective novel. Have outlines and research and am just beginning the rough draft. Oh, and some short stoies and flash and other things for my "Create52" series on my blog each Monday in 2015.

3. I hoping to have 52 entries done in my "Create52" blog initiative, at least half of the novel rough draft done, and 10 short stories sent out for submission from 2015.

4. With a wry smile, a two-handed high-five, and then perhaps even a bow and a kiss on the hand. I'd go all OLD-school on ya!

Sarah Foster said...

Oh, this is fun!

1. Right now I'm reading A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin (2nd in the series...I guess I'm not alone!)

2. Still working on my WIP that I'm doomed to be working on for all eternity. But maybe not since I had some breakthrough inspiration last night!

3. I hope to at least be on my way to getting this book published--maybe have an agent or a self-publishing plan. At the very least I want the book at the point where I think it's good enough to be published.

4. I'd probably stand there and give an awkward little wave since being social limits my ability to function...

cleemckenzie said...

You've set a high bar here, girl. Now I have to actually think before commenting. It's Monday for heaven sakes. But I'll give it a go.

1. Just finished Paris Time Capsule last night. Will review it soon.

2. I'm laughing on this one. I've gone back to my very first story I ever wrote. Shredding it and wondering who the hell could have ever written such @!!#!

3. I say, "May the Force be with you, Ms. Theriault!." I'd throw in a Dr. Spock hand gesture and brace myself for your high five.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

I'm reading The Leopard by KV Johansen and writing the last book in my latest science fiction romance series. By the end of 2016, I want to have my house up for sale so my husband and I can downsize. If I met you, I'm sure I would laugh because you make me laugh all the time.

1. As of the moment I am catching up on reading others blogs.
2. I am writing my blog, and starting over my journals.
3. I hope to finish my lunch fast, so I have time to take a nap.
4. With a smile and some candy!
Thanks for the fun!

1. Like you I am a mood reader.
I am reading: The Rosie Project: Graeme Simsion, rereading rather a lot of Dilbert, and Paddington Bear stories, reading Claudia Must Die: T.B Markinson, and The Foxglove Summer: Ben Aaronovitch.
2. Writing, revising, updating to do lists. Always.
3. I hope to have made serious progress on an 'unfucking program' personal and household by the end of the year.
4. I am chronically shy and would have my head down, almost certainly red-faced and shuffling. But would be doing hidden happy dances.

ilima said...

I'm reading manuscripts that I'm critiquing (falling behind...) and working on edits for Remake 2 (falling behind...). I just hope to have Remake 3 written by the end of the year and still have my brain intact. If we were to meet in person, I might run the other way but then you'd tempt me with sushi and then I'd tackle hug you. Possibly.

Rachel Schieffelbein said...

Ah! I'm excited/nervous you're reading my zombie book! Lol. I hope you like it!
I'm currently reading the fifth Harry Potter book. (And I finished reading A Little Something Different last night, so I think I'll start Out of Play today.) :)
I'm working on two YA contemporaries at the moment. One is out with cps, one is about 10k in.
I'm also hoping to be querying in 2015!
And I would probably greet you awkwardly, not entirely trusting myself that I'm was correctly matching your face to your name, because I really suck at that. ;-)

1. Mostly, I'm reading words. Sometimes, I read numbers.

I'm currently writing a paranormal romance and my goal is to have it polished and ready this year.

And I live in the South - I'd great you with a hug and food.

Lynda R Young said...

Diane stole my answer to number one so I suppose I'll have to get all sensible and tell you I'm reading The Picture of Dorian Grey, The Player of Games, The Dwarves, and a new one I've forgotten the name of.

I'm writing a YA book I'm struggling to categorize--Timeslip thriller maybe?

Since you made me pick only one...I hope to get a game out into the big wide wobbly world.

If we met, then I'd grin stupidly but try to sound cool, knowing full well I was failing ;)

Teehee, your answers were funnn! And you are busy! Cool that you're doing two collabs at once!

1. What are you reading?
I'm reading book #1 in Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy. It's slow going so far, but it's an intriguing world his story is set in.

2. What are you writing and tell me about your progress so far?
:/ Noooo, not the dreaded question. But okay. Here goes. TONIGHT I intend to finally get started on my final chapter for last year's NaNo novel. So there.

3. One thing you hope to finish/do before 2016?
Publish something. Anything! Even a short story!

4. If we were to meet in person, how would you greet me?
I'd probably do a "oh heeeyyy, how are ya?" and give you an awkward hug. hehe.

I'd give you a hug you awesome, awesome gal!

So much fun!

1. I'm reading The Golem and the Jinni, and Second Sight: An Editor's Talk on Writing, Revising and Publishing.

2. I'm writing a query. And rewriting a query. and then doing it again. If I'm lucky I'm jotting down ideas for a possible new story.

3. Move, and find an agent. Gotta dream big.

4. I don't know. I'm fairly reserved. I'd probably just say hey and ask how you were.

1. I'm reading a manuscript

2. Working on a middle grade series. I'm still on the first book - 120 pages each. 9 more to go.

3. I'm excited to see the finished product - at least 2 before the end of the year. Getting an agent would be a big deal, but I'm okay with self-publishing.

4. I would give you a big hug and say, "Hi, can't believe I'm meeting you in person."

Hi-ya. Fun post! (As if that should be a surprise...)

Okay, I'm currently reading, "Who Stole My Spandex?" A fun, sometimes funny, and fast-reading book of essays written by a very talented fellow blogger.

What am I writing? Mostly blog posts and comments. But I have two ideas for novels, both of which I've researched. One, I've researched the hell out of, and then this second idea horned in, and is demanding attention. (Of all the nerve!)

I'd LIKE to do a big chunk of writing on one... or both... of the novel ideas mentioned above.

I'd give ya a big hug. (I'm a hugger from way back.)

1. I'm reading Packing for Mars by Mary Roach. Hilarious nonfiction. I just read about astronauts throwing up in their spacesuits!

2. I'm not writing, but I'm revising. My urban fantasy about a demon-run funeral home will be ready to go in March!

3. I hope to meet a writer friend at one convention too.

4. I'm really shy, so I'd look like some stalker lurking about. "I've been watching, I mean, reading you."

LOL! You crack me up, Tammy.

My answers:

1. What are you reading?
An ARC of Chronology for review. (Short story collection from Curiosity Quills), the ensign, BoM, and Oct Conference 2014.

2. What are you writing and tell me about your progress so far?
SO MANY THINGS. I recently signed on with a short story blog, so I've got 12 short stories to be published online this year, plus a serial story that will not be making its publishing deadline, plus the final book in my trilogy, TIMELESS.

3. One thing you hope to finish/do before 2016?
Finish TIMELESS. (Please!)

4. If we were to meet in person, how would you greet me?
Cheese to you!

Wow, you are a big-time book person, I LOVE that! And a writer, so cool.

I am reading The Adventures of a Superhero Girl, Summer Knight, Craftivism and Harumi's Japanese Cooking.

I am writing a lot about Hello Kitty. I intend to write an article about her identity and Hello Kitty culture. So far, just notes from books I've read.

I hope to poach a whole fish by the end of 2015.

Probably with a shy "hello" because I do not always make a positive first impression and have social anxiety.

1. Your blog, silly. Is this a trick question?

Oh, you mean, like a book? Okay. The Art of the Simon and Kirby Studio.

2. An uncharacteristically serious blog post.

3. I'd like to develop the urge to get up and spend a productive day. This year, I've just wanted to stay in bed so far. I'm doing only necessities like eating, bathing, feeding my cat...

4. I'd wait to see what you'd do first, then greet you accordingly.

READING--Nora Roberts High Noon
CURRENTLY--looking over a trilogy of stories I wrote. Getting ready to edit them and then send them off to a friend of mine who is content editor to see what blood she can draw--and she will. :-)

FINISH BY 2016-- several projects aside from above mentioned editing, I want to replace the watering system for my animals--involves a bulldozer and new pipes plus electricity so the water won't freeze in the winter. New carpet in the living room and new laminate flooring in my kitchen, dinning room and entry way.

Greeting? Hey Tammy, good to meet you in person and a hug. :-)

3. I hope to finish the draft of Changers before the end of the year. Before the middle of the year, actually.

4. High five is good. Bring it!

Great questions and awesome answers! I guess I'll give it a go...

1) I'm reading my critique partner's manuscript, reading over the words I just wrote while I draft my YA novel, and I'm getting ready to read Pretties by Scott Westerfield (the sequel to Uglies).

2) I'm working on a YA contemporary novel and I'm about half-way through.

3) I hope to be published by 2016 (although since the pub industry moves so slow, I'd be happy with an agent and a publishing contract!) *keeping fingers crossed*

4) I would be so excited that I'd probably squeal like a little girl and then give you a big hug.

2. I'm working on a long-short story or novella about a werewolf who is a serial killer. And revising the beginning of my womens fiction novel (again).
3. The werewolf story is the one thing I'm hoping to finish and submit for publication. Getting an agent for my women's fiction trilogy would send me over the moon though :)
4. If we were to meet in person I'd likely greet you with "Hey Tammy, what's up?" and then likely offer an awkward hug. I'm not really a hugger, but if it felt right at the moment, I wouldn't shy away.

I read The Memory Keepers Daughter; it was awesome. I wish I had more time for reading. Oh my, you sure have a lot of things going on in your writing world. Whew, I'm tuckered out reading.
