T'was the Day of Movies...

T'was the day of movies, when all through the room
not a person was stirring, not with their popcorn
the film was hung by the projector with care
in hopes that Alex Cavanaugh would soon be there

the movie goers were nestled ready to watch what I led
while visions of awesome movies danced in their heads
and me in my snuggie and Alex in his directors cap
had taken our seats at the very, very back

when out in the crowd their arose such a clatter
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter
away to the front I pulled down the projector screen
& raced back to my seat looking at a lazy Alex real mean

And laying a certain finger aside of his nose
and giving a "oh yes I did" nod, up to the projector he rose
but I also heard him exclaim when he went to press play

"ENJOY TAMMY'S FAVORITE TOP 10 MOVIES YA'LL,
& TO YA'LL GOOD DAY"

& my 5 honorable mentions...meaning I'll honorably mention them...
with honor...
and a bit of mentioning...

(last of the mohicans, the sandlot, zoolander, anchorman, tommy boy)

*** For anyone wondering, most of these are movies I grew up with playing over & over & over & over till the VHS/DVD said, "ENOUGH ALREADY!!"
To which I replied, "NEEEEEEEVER!! I'M A 'PLAYA'! IT'S WHAT I DO!!"

Anchorman, Dodgeball and Anchorman are hilarious comedies. Before the Spartacus series on Starz there was 300. Great list

Tammy, that was so creative! Now I want a real director's cap.
The 300 - you rock! And Last almost made my list as well.

Hi,

What a fun poem. I loved all of those movies too. I loved Last of the Mohicans. I also loved Dances with Wolves. These two would definitely been on my honorable mention list.

It's been way too long since I've seen Tommy Boy. Funny stuff! And very awesome poem :)

Yeah!!! I told Jaybird that every time I watch 300, it makes me want to buy my husband a shield, leather spanks, and a cape. Lawd, what those men do to me. It's no lie, I was born on the wrong continent and in the wrong period. Oh well, at least I have the movies. :P

Shannon Lawrence said...

Oh yes! Can't Buy Me Love. Also, Loverboy. Two Dempsey movies I adored. Both are extremely popular, apparently, because I can't seem to get them from my Blockbuster queue. Boo! Also, Sandlot..."For. Ev. Ver."

Tammy!

And to start out with some poetry
Prose so clever it's plain to see.

Such an interesting list. I reckoned "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" would have been one of your choices!

Yes, you are very welcome for my comment. And yes, great post! Thanks for sharing!

I remember Newsies! I can't believe it's been more than 20 years since that movie came out! I had such a crush on several of the guys in that movie. And I liked Can't Buy Me Love too; I liked that the so-called mean girl wrote poetry.

GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE.

See...I'm not THAT far removed from the 80s :)

Your honorable mentions that were mentioned with a little bit of honor are awesome too.

Goonies FTW! And gosh darn I loved Lost Boys when I was in middle school and I'm convinced Stephenie Meyer garnered some inspiration from that film for her saga.

Can't buy Me Love!!! Oh how I love this movie. I really should have added it to my list. And Lost Boys... when vampires were badass punks. ;)

Carrie-Anne said...

I've seen Amadeus, Gladiator, and The Goonies. I was one of those kids who took everything literally and too seriously, so for years I really thought Mozart was just like he was portrayed in the film, constantly laughing like a loon.

M Pax said...

I loved Tommy Boy. Also loved Amadeus, 300, and Gladiator. You picked great movies, Tammy.

mshatch said...

The Goonies is such a great movie and it has Samwise as youngster, hehe.

Susan Flett Swiderski said...

Way to mix 'em up! I love that your choices aren't all the same kind of movies. That'd be my problem in compiling a list; I like a lot of different types of movies. But movies are kinda like music, in that "most favored" status is subject to change, depending on mood.
